Calcutta University holds exams amid TMCP processions while Burdwan University postpones unexpectedly

On the foundation day of the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP), Calcutta University conducted its scheduled examinations across 81 centers despite multiple TMCP processions moving through the city. The processions, involving hundreds of students carrying flags and banners, raised concerns about traffic congestion around key exam locations including South City College and Surendranath College. Commerce and law exams were held on time, and students reported smooth conduct inside classrooms.

Meanwhile, students of Burdwan University, who initially expected exams to be held as scheduled, were informed through a sudden notice on Thursday morning that their exams were postponed. The Higher Education Department had not issued any specific instructions regarding Burdwan University, and there were no reported disputes or controversies at the university.

Calcutta University continued with its exams despite requests from the Higher Education Department to consider rescheduling. Security measures were implemented at all exam centers, and examinations were conducted peacefully without any interruptions. Observers noted that while exams proceeded inside classrooms, TMCP supporters participated in processions outside, maintaining a clear separation between academic activities and political events.
